DMRMS Environmentalist Club Starts Podcast:
Librarian Jami Badershall and two students from her environmentalist club, Chloe Ames and Lila Campbell, have been hard at work on a "Wild and Wonderful Podcast". They released their first episode this week which features an interview with local resident, Roger Lambert, Master Maine Guide and Storyteller. The sixth graders used DMRMS podcasting equipment to record, edit, and publish their work for our education and entertainment. Learn about the High Peaks Alliance; hear about the hunter gatherer lifestyle; and enjoy the general exploration of changes in our local environment.

Child Nutrition Program Updates

The start of the school year is the perfect time to share a few reminders about the MSAD 58 Child Nutrition Program.

NO CHARGE MEALS - Again this year, every MSAD 58 student is eligible to receive one breakfast meal and one lunch meal at no charge. The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and State of Maine reimburse the district for meals that meet their specified nutritional requirements - three components at breakfast and five components at lunch.

MILK ONLY - 50¢ each. Similar to last year, a carton of milk is not eligible for reimbursement by the NSLP or State of Maine. Therefore, an 8 oz. carton of low-fat white or low-fat chocolate milk is available to purchase for 50¢ each. Milk is available at either breakfast or lunch for students bringing their meals from home, or those wanting a second milk.

PAYING FOR MILK - Payment for milk is expected at the time of service unless the student has funds available on their student meal account. If you would like to add funds to your student’s account, please have them bring cash or a check - payable to MSAD 58 - to the school cafeteria.

SALAD BARS AT EVERY SCHOOL - We are continuing with our salad bar service during lunch again this year. All selections from the salad bar are included as part of a NO CHARGE meal for students.

BREAKFAST AND LUNCH MENUS - At a glance monthly menus are available for downloading from the district’s Breakfast and Lunch Menus webpage. School specific daily menus are posted under the new Dining icon on all school webpages.
